Abilene Summer Camps 2024
It may seem early, but summer camps fill up quickly! So now is the time to start thinking about summer camp plans for your kids. This guide is meant to be an overview of options available in Abilene, Texas at this time. Be sure to check back as the spring unfolds, and I will update the post as more camps become available!
Zoo Camp at the Abilene Zoo: Registration opens March 4th for zoo members and March 18th for non-members. But from experience, you’ll want to become a member if you want to be sure your kids get in to camp. This is a very popular camp and it feels up quickly! Camps are available for age 4 through 7th grade. You can find more information here.
Grace Museum Summer Camps: Half-day camps are available at the Grace Museum that unleash your child’s creative side. Art, culinary endeavors, writing, and sculpting are just a few of the activities you can expect from these camps. Prices vary, and members are able to register prior to non-members. Scholarships are available on their website, also. Tickets are available March 1st. You can find more information here.
Beltway Park Summer Club: This camp is a great option for working parents. This full-day program serves students kindergarten through 8th grade.
Buffalo Gap Presbyterian Camp: Have kids ready to get out in nature and “unplug”?. This camp touts itself as “screen-free”. This faith-based overnight camp for elementary and middle school children has daily Bible study, crafts, swimming, group games, and star-watching.
Gymnastic Sports Center Camp: Held July 29th through August 1st, this camp is for kids of all skills levels ages 6 through 12. Enrollment opens in May 2024 at this website.
Mentoring Alliance: This is a new-to-Abilene camp for Abilene ISD students that will be held at Purcell Elementary. This camp is also a great option for working parents, since the drop-off and pick-up times are conducive to an 8-5 work day. This is a faith-based camp. However, the camp also touts 10 hours of life skills and academic instruction per week, with the goal to help students be more prepared for the next grade level by the end of the summer. Abilene Youth Sports Authority: Volleyball and basketball camps will be running throughout the summer for kids grades 3-12. More information is on the AYSA website.
Abilene Redbud YMCA: YMCA camps offer children a safe, exciting, and memorable day camp experience. Kids have the opportunity to build self-confidence, independence, and creativity, and parents have peace of mind knowing their kids are in a safe and enriching place. At YMCA day camps, kids make friends while learning the values of diversity and cooperation. Financial assistance is available.
City of Abilene Summer Camps: With 20 new camps operating every two weeks, you’re sure to find something for every child. Our camps offer a safe & nurturing place to play fun recreation games, opportunities to learn & discover, & make lifelong friends.
Abilene Performing Arts Center: Children take part in performing arts through a variety of workshops designed to immerse children in the area of performance. Age ranges from preschool to adolescent. Length of camps and workshops vary with age.
Abilene Ballet Theatre: Join us this summer for a full schedule of fun classes from age 3 to adult! For our younger students, we will be offering our very popular Cinderella's Enchanting Dance Camp for ages 3&4, and Clara's Dreamy Dance Camp and Broadway Babies Jazz Camp for ages 5-8. For our older students age 9 & up, we will be offering our Summer Intensive the first week in June and regular ballet classes in both June and August! Registration is open now! Hardin-Simmons Sports Camps: Something for everyone, grades K-12, this camp provides experience with a sport of the student’s choice: Volleyball, Softball, Basketball, Football, and Tennis. Some camps are day camps, others are overnight camp.
Abilene ISD The LIFT: Makerspace Camp (grades 2-4), Career Exploration Camp (grades 5-7), and Career Academy (for grades 5-7). Makerspace Camp is half day, while Career Exploration and Career Academy Camps are 9am-3pm. Lunch is provided for all campers.
